This is quick guide explaining how to install Tailscan outside of the Chrome Webstore. This can be useful in case you’d like to use a previous version, unreleased version or if you are restricted by your Google Workspace. Be aware that this might be slightly technical, but the steps should be easy to follow.
Please also be aware that this method of installation prevents you from receiving future updates. It is advised to install Tailscan through the Chrome Webstore if possible.

- Unzip the File: Extract your .zip extension file to a known location.
- Open Google Chrome or any Chromium based browser.
- Go to Extensions Page: Enter
chrome://extensionsin the address bar.
- Remove the existing version of Tailscan first: You cannot have the Chrome Webstore version installed at the same time.
- Enable Developer Mode: Toggle the switch in the top right corner.
- Load Unpacked: Click on "Load unpacked" button that appeared.
- Select Extension Folder: Navigate to and select the folder containing the unzipped extension files.
- Install the Extension: Click "Open." The extension will be installed and enabled.
